The Broken Man
They never saw him again –His spirit was crushed.
His limbs were heavy with despair, the life was gone.
His once stubborn jaw looked frail, his features wept.
The hope was gone, there was nothing left to fall back on
His thoughts lingered more slowly, when his future was the questioned.
Questioned or not, his mind did not care.
I do not care, I do not know, I do not feel anymore.
I do not see, I will not share again, his voice forlorned.
I was once strong, I was invincible, he continued
I had courage of unlimited resources
I had love and did love.
I had hope, no matter the occasion.
I had no reason to cry out in anguish
Back then I had no reason to cry.
Now there’s no reason not to die
I have now no reason at all to live.
They never saw him again because his shell
Was all that was left and they could not see him.
Because the way he was, was gone,
The person he was, was dead
The life he lived was dead,
He died a broken man.
