Reflections on Benazir Bhutto's Assassination

Around the world violence takes its toil on countless innocents whose only crime is that they are there. On December 27, 2007 at 8:16A.M. E.S.T. former Prime Minister of Pakistan Benazir Bhutto was assassinated in another cowardly act of violence by those who abhor free speech and love life. She was campaigning to lead Pakistan in she died. What could she have done should she have won in Pakistan will not be known, what is known is that another voice of reason in a sea of unreasonable voices is silent. We are all to blame like we are all to blame that children go hungry or any countless horrors that fill the earth today. And as a result of these atrocities we have collectively lost and those who rejoice in her death have won a meaningless victory. A victory so shallow it demonstrates just how weak they are and how small they have become. Until they turn away from the sword and toward love little will change. Love is a weapon of such mass destruction nothing can nor will escape it's blast, yet nothing dies or is lost either. History has shown that all the great victories were won by love. Remember what Gandhi said to the British General when he announced he wanted the British gone from India. The general said, "We the British have the largest military force the world has ever known and we rule the seven seas, what do you have that could defeat us?" Gandhi answered with love. "I sir, have a good idea." Gandhi was beaten and thrown back into jail but the British did finally surrender to this man with nothing but a good idea. It is not the love alone that defeats all things, it is the purity and conviction of the being leading the idea. It must be tested and it must be true. Gandhi's love was true.

What knowledge was gained by this act was that hate is a waste.
